March roared in like a lion for our FSM ride weekend with difficult weather which kept many riders indoors and even tormented many who braved a ride.

For those of you new to our community, FSM stands for the “First Saturday/Sunday of the Month” ride. On the first weekend of very month, the global Me-Mover community rides together in spirit and shares their adventures online.

Philippines

After meeting his February goal of averaging 35 km/week, Enrico Victor kicked off March with the same distance goal but looked to improve his speed. He averaged 15.2 kph on his 20.79 km Saturday ride.

Denmark

Danny Kirkeby finally got lucky with the weather in Slagelse, Denmark as he enjoyed a beautiful 12c degree day with almost no wind for his Sunday ride. He found some steep hills to climb for short, but effective 4.62 km ride before a family get-together.

United States

Tom Case won the weather lottery for this month’s ride, enjoying a marathon-length ride to Hollywood Beach to watch the sun rise. He enjoyed a delicious, home-brewed iced decaf while watching the sun rise over the water and got a great Me-Mover workout along the way.

BJ Viers did a double-header in Atlantic Beach, Florida, riding 8 miles Saturday and another 5.8 miles Sunday.

In the northern part of Florida, Roger Wildermuth was rolled the dice during a tornado warning and snuck a quick neighborhood ride in before the rain came. We admire Roger’s spirit in getting his FSM ride in, and we are glad he stayed safe despite the weather.

The weather wasn’t much better across the country in California for six of our FSM riders. Claudio Pagan braved the rain in Ventura to put in an impressive 100k ride around a neighborhood park. Meanwhile, Juan C Ortega and four friends in his “Me-Mover Crew” rode 14.58 miles in damp conditions in the Culver City CicLAvia.

Kudos to all of you who joined in our FSM ride this month, especially if you had to brave the weather to do so. I was once again snowed in, but am looking forward to an upcoming trip to sunny and warm Florida for a little riding soon. I look forward to seeing some of you in Clermont, and I look forward to our next FSM on April 6 & 7.
